AAUW Marin Scholarship Fund

AAUW Marin has offered a unique scholarship program for girls and women since 1990.

One program awards grants to women in college. The other is sending middle school girls to Tech Trek, a scholarship-only summer program to interest girls in math, science, and technology.

College Awards

We have awarded over 40 scholarships to Marin women to date at the College of Marin and Dominican University.

All awardees are in financial need, show academic excellence and are pursuing a four-year college degree. Many recipients are re-entry women. Read about our latest college scholarship recipients in our Summer 2009 newsletter.

Typical awardees include:
--A high school dropout, victim of abuse, single mother of three who earned her GED and is pursuing a Master's in business management.
--A single parent, raised in multiple foster homes, who finds her passion in science & nursing.
--A first-generation college student, raised by her grandmother in a village above the Arctic Circle.
--A disabled woman studying to become a lawyer and specialize in disability rights law.

Where the Money Comes From

To ensure a stable funding base for our local scholarships and enable them to continue indefinitely, in 2002 the Branch established the non-profit 501(c)(3) AAUW Marin Scholarship Fund.

Our goal is to build sufficient principal in the Fund so that the interest alone will fund our college scholarships.

Contributions for Tech Trek are collected and administered by the Scholarship Fund.
All contributions to AAUW Marin Scholarship Fund are tax deductible to the full extent provided by law.
